Godz of Solaria: a DAO operated NFT incubator on Solana

Finding a good NFT collection that is not a scam is extremely tough nowadays. There are just so many collections out there, and very few techniques that exist to filter out all of the noise. Therefore, we tend to gravitate toward NFT collections that come from a reputable source. A great example of this is artblocks, a collective that organizes curated releases of NFTs made from various artists. Getting an NFT collection featured on Artblocks is a surefire way to generate demand and trust to one’s NFT collection, and help the prices rise significantly.

Backstory
The backstory of the GODz collection is quite straightforward: in the times before there was even time, there was a mystical being that transcended mortals. This being created Solaria simply by imagining, and the GODz were born. Sensing a shift in the cosmic balance, the GODz have returned after Millenia. To right their wrongdoings and bring peace to the world of Mortalz.
Each Godz has its own unique features
Each GODz features stunning artwork that reminds us very much of DC comic books. This is great, as it is familiar and can resonate with a large audience. The GODz exist throughout 8 different domains, and have over 300 features.
The 888 seed GODz have already been minted, and are for sale on Magic Eden. They made a sold out of it in a couple hours. Looking at the roadmap, we see that there are already many more NFT projects coming on the incubator. The team at GODz hopes to launch 8000 NFTs in their main sale.
Finally, the GODz NFTs will be at the core of the GODz game, a play to earn game that hopes to be released before the end of 2022. We have no clear date when it will be released, and have very few snapshots regarding the gameplay. Priority for the game will be launching a simple PvP game with high replayability and mechanics to wager and win NFTs and tokens over matches.
Team and community
The team have experts in their team with strong experience managing large development projects and working alongside real world incubators.
Luckily, the community is quite large: GODz of Solaria has almost 7,000 members on Discord and almost 1,200 followers on Twitter. Considering that there are only 888 NFTs out there, the community is large enough for the NFT collection as of now. As long as these numbers can at least triple by phase I, then we would be looking at a healthy collection with lots of upside.
Deploying on Solana: the pros and the cons
Overall, Solana is a great promising blockchain that can solve many problemed encountered on Ethereum. The main advantages are faster and cheaper transactions, while maintaining extremely high security. The disadvantage comes that Solana NFT collections are fairly new, and still lack liquidity and users compared to ETH.
Therefore, deploying on Solana is placing a huge bet that Solana will remain relevant 20 years from now. GODz of Solaria is planning an entire ecosystem, and needs a stable blockchain. It is taking a risk by deploying on Solana but this risk could pay off massively, as it allows the collection to be one of the pioneering collections on Solana.
Verdict
Overall, the GODz of Solaria collection offers impressive utility for its NFT holders, and wants to make its ecosystem grow quickly. However, this is another classic example of nothing having been built yet; we just have beautiful promises and need to trust the team that they will deliver.
The GODz of Solaria is the first NFT collection of its kind, where the tokens generated by the NFTs enable a DAO-like utility to the NFT holders. It is great to let the community decide which NFTs get selected and which do not, but this also could make the collections become community-centric, and hinder innovation. There is a reason why Artblocks works: the NFT curators are truly experts in the space. Who is to trust a GODz holder on an NFT collection? If the community is not smart, then the choices made by the DAO will not be great either.
The team will need to play a strong role in guiding and managing the DAO to ensure quality projects are being launched.
