NSM for wellness is helping business leaders conquer the stress epidemic

The team at NSM for wellness has developed a proprietary framework to help business leaders support their employees’ health and wellbeing, giving them an edge.

STRESS is costly

Stress is one of the most significant challenges facing organizations today. It impacts productivity, engagement, decision-making, communication, and teamwork. In addition, long-term chronic stress is making people sick. It increases the risk of health problems like anxiety, depression, headaches, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke, to name but a few.

In fact, without even taking into consideration the added impact the pandemic has had on these statistics, job stress is estimated to cost companies more than $300 billion a year in health cost, absenteeism and poor performance.

Consider these numbers:
–  40% of job turnover is due to stress.
–  Replacing an average employee costs 120-200% of the salary of the position affected.
–  Depressive illness, a common side effect of job stress in employees, is associated with nearly 10 annual sick days.
–  Over five hours of office work/business is lost weekly to employees thinking and talking (water-cooler chatter) about their stressors.

The Cost to Doing Nothing

There is hope!

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that for every $1 a business invests in helping their team tackle stress, there’s a return of $4 in improved health, engagement and productivity. Businesses that figure out a way to get ahead of this stress epidemic will not only have the advantage of a happier, healthier workforce, they will also attract better talent, have higher productivity, increase retention, make better decisions at all levels, and be generally more successful.

“Stress is often overlooked as a contributor and yet wreaks major havoc on people’s physical, mental and emotional health. It prevents them from enjoying their work, their loved ones, their every day life and it’s often the root issue of their ailments” remarks Cathy Bales, owner of NSM for wellness. “Unfortunately, there are not many tools out there that help move the needle quickly and in a tangible way…without a pill. So I went on a hunt to find a solution!”

Cathy, a Functional Medicine Health Coach and HeartMath practitioner, explains that an understanding of the human body and brain, along with training in stress management techniques, has a profound effect on individuals’ mental clarity, performance, resilience and overall quality of life.

Resilience is more than just a buzzword

In this fast-moving ever-changing world, resilience has become a key differentiator between those who thrive and those who struggle under the pressures of everyday life.

When asked if it’s possible to build resilience, Cathy affirms, “The answer is a resounding YES! And it’s easier than you might think!!”

The NSM – Live by Design toolbox is designed to teach individuals and corporate teams HOW to do just that. Through the use of assessment tools, weekly training and daily accountability, the NSM proprietary framework is a holistic approach that tackles important topics such as the energy management, stress load, motivation, decision-making, relationships, and communication. All of this, within the context of what the NSM team calls the 5 Pillars of Health – Nutrition, Exercise, Sleep, Stress Management and Community.

She explains, “The tools we teach are so simple that kids can learn them (I said simple…not easy!), but are also used by the military, first responders, Olympic level athletes, and fortune 500 executives as a high-performance toolbox. It also has 30 years of peer validated research behind it. This toolbox has literally changed my own life and it is why I am so passionate about passing it on to as many people as possible.”

Happy employees = better business performance

An organization is only as good as its people.  A healthy, happy workforce is key to its success. Businesses who invest in programs that support their employees’ overall wellness journey will have a leg up in this pandemic era and ever changing global landscape. The NSM for wellness holistic approach seems to tick all the boxes.
