Bohn Jsell Presents New SS/2022 Collection “Savannah” With Hybrid Show At New York Fashion Week

The Collection Will Deliver a Metaphorical Representation of Visibility for Women of Color

After more than a year of digital contactless fashion, American destination-wear brand, Bohn Jsell, will make its return back to the runway this season. The brand has announced that it will debut its upcoming womenswear collection, “Savannah” at New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2022. Opting for a hybrid approach, Bohn Jsell will present the new collection with a live audience on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at The Prince George Ballroom (14 East 28th Street, New York City) and digitally via a shoppable livestream event open to the public at live.bohnjsell.com. Not only will guests be able to view the new collection, but they will able to purchase items for pre-order straight from the runway. The objectives of this digital-physical format are to encourage sustainability while embracing the evolution of digital fashion technologies.

The “Savannah” collection is inspired by the plains and tropical grasslands of Africa. Keen to celebrate the visibility of women of color, John E. Bell, Bohn Jsell Co-Founder and Designer, contrasts his muses with the exposed landscape where the eye sees everything and nothing can stay hidden. While the luxurious textures, silhouettes, prints and bold colors in the collection are directly inspired by the savanna, the pieces also champion the magic of being a woman. Inspired by strong women, Bell challenges the prevailing narratives of beauty in poetic pieces that evoke sublime African landscapes.

Bohn Jsell was founded in 2016 by John E. Bell, Designer and Kasha Reavis, Brand Director. As a black-owned fashion brand, visibility is of primary importance and the brand is keen to reflect and embrace diversity and equal representation. Furthermore, recognizing fashion’s much-reported negative impact on the environment, Bohn Jsell is proudly part of a new movement to produce limited batches locally to minimize and reduce waste.

“In addition to sustainability, we care very much about inclusion and diversity. That’s a big thing for us as a black-owned business” – John E. Bell

Since its founding, the homegrown American destination-wear brand has specialized in bohemian luxury. From the start, the founders have been inspired by wanderlust, cultural nuances and a vision for a better fashion industry, more inclusive and diverse. Savannah follows the brand’s previous collections, Bon Voyage and Bohemian Flower, in celebrating the rhapsody of vibrant colors that help women of all shapes, sizes, skin tones and backgrounds be seen.
