New York Personal Injury Attorney Used Previous Challenges To Circumnavigate COVID-19 Challenges
Conducting business as usual is a challenge for most businesses these days. Nicholas Timko explains how law offices are adapting to it, to protect their staff and clients.

Case Engine, the number one provider of specialist digital marketing services for attorneys, is currently in the process of interviewing legal firms across the country to ascertain how the COVID-19 pandemic affected their business and what steps those companies took to ensure the continued growth of their firms. This type of cutting edge investigation and analysis is one of the many tools Case Engine uses to ensure that they remain at the cutting edge of the industry, understand the issues their clients are facing and devise strategies to solve those issues.

They recently interviewed Nicholas Timko of Kahn Gordon Timko & Rodriques, P.C. Located in New York; the company was much more technologically advanced than many legal firms due to the fact that their original offices were located a few hundred yards away from the World Trade Center. After 9-11, the company essentially had no office for two years and had to react quickly to serve their clients and ensure their business survived. This knowledge and expertise helped them navigate the pandemic and continue to operate with minimal disruption.

When discussing the pandemic, Nicholas said, “We got everybody set up for remote work. We used our voice-over IP company, which has an app on the cell phone. Personally, I already had that app because when I go to court, I don’t want to call clients on my cell phone. I call from the app, it shows the office, we just downloaded the app for everybody and got them ready. We kind of hit the ground running in terms of operations, logging in, everybody got to log into the central system. We’ve been scanning everything that we have in our case management system since 9-11. When we started doing all that, even though we had paper files, we had been doing a lot of that remotely. In terms of infrastructure, we just needed to get every member of staff set up. One of the things that I think helped us to survive, I wouldn’t say prosper, cause I don’t think anybody really prospered without a court system, was asking my calendar clerk to go find other lawyers on our cases. Basically, I said, go to every case that we have, look up who the defense lawyers are from the filing system and just send out emails, Hey, we got a deposition? Can we do it remotely? Send out 50 emails, you get 15 or 20 positive responses. People on the other side, as we did, need to start billing some hours. And that was how we survived as a company during the pandemic restrictions.”

This demonstrates the growing importance of technology within the legal industry. Moving forward, the companies who are going to survive and prosper will need to be proficient at using technology, marketing themselves online and improving lines of communication with their clients. These are the areas in which Engine specialize and explains why they are one of the fastest-growing digital marketing companies in the USA today.
