Global supply chain issues benefit companies with manufacturing and logistics apparatus in the US.

With the COVID pandemic causing massive global supply chain issues across hundreds of industries in the US, companies who invested in building and developing a local supply chain with manufacturing and logistics are gaining an edge.

“We are definitely reaping the rewards of our investment to build and manufacture our products here,” says Jeff Rudolph, director of sales at Modular Closets, a closet manufacturer and online retailer based in Lakewood, New Jersey. “We made a decision from a quality standpoint a few years ago that we wanted our closets to be made here under our own quality control supervision. We had no idea that a pandemic would come and cause serious supply chain issues.”

While companies who rely on overseas manufacturing are struggling with long lead times that can take months, Modular Closets can ship products across the US within days. The company even promoted its local manufacturing in a video titled Made By Me:

Things have gotten so dire that HomeDepot contracted their own container ship, according to CNBC. Starbucks confirmed they are experiencing supply chain issues after customer complaints bubbled up on social media about product shortages at many locations.

And yet, even companies with factories in the US haven’t been spared. Ford announced the closures of eight plants due to the semiconductor shortages out of China.
