ATLANTA – A number of puppet-loving celebrities from a variety of different industries have generously offered their time to support the “Call to Auction,” an online fundraiser for the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Celebrity packages include: a private tour of the Center’s museum with The Vampire Diaries’ Kat Graham, a Zoom call with Disney director Kevin Lima, a virtual behind-the-scenes tour of the puppetry museum with Dave Goelz (Gonzo), a VIP virtual meet and greet with Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series’ lead puppeteers – Alice Dinnean, Louise Gold, and David Chapman, and an in-person VIP experience in New York City with Cheryl Henson. The auction will also feature rare original props from Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series, a Zoom experience with an authentic resident of Fraggle Rock, Henson memorabilia, vacation destinations, wine packages, and more.

Puppets are #ontrend. You’ve seen them in prime time on The Masked Singer, on the big screen in the upcoming Muppet movie, on the runway in haute couture for Moschino’s Spring 2021 marionette fashion show and all over daytime television, including the new Netflix series Waffles + Mochi with Michelle Obama. The Center remains the largest performing arts center and museum devoted to puppetry in the country. Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog cut the ribbon on the Center of Puppetry Arts over 40 years ago. This year’s virtual silent auction is poised to raise $100,000 to support the Center’s mission to inspire imagination, education and community through the global art of puppetry.

“As with so many things this year, the challenges of COVID inspired us to do something different – to take our silent auction online. Not only does it allow us to have the auction, it allows us to continue to expand our presence nationally and internationally through our digital platforms” said Executive Director, Beth Schiavo. “We are deeply grateful of the generous support of Cheryl Henson, The Jim Henson Company, and all of our board members without whom none of this would have been possible.”

Donations to the Center will also be accepted throughout the auction allowing patrons to provide funding for field trips and other programming. All proceeds and donations will go directly to the Center for Puppetry Arts and will be allocated to help cover any and all losses that were caused from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Bidding opens on May 4th at 12 p.m. EDT and ends on May 6th at 5 p.m. EDT. To stay informed and get updates on new packages, register here for free: https://one.bidpal.net/calltoauction/welcome
