“Fame and Fools” and “Get Appy” show the wide range of ability the writing team of Mawbey and James possess, blending comedy with thoughtful social commentary and heartfelt drama.

Los Angeles, CA – MotionScope Entertainment has acquired the rights to produce the films “Fame and Fools” and “Get Appy”, both written by actress/producers Sarah Mawbey and Chantelle James. Award-winning producer/director/actor Stephen Rollins has been tapped to direct.

“Get Appy” is a comedy that through humor addresses social issues such as gun violence in America. “Fame and Fools” is a drama with a touch of comedy about how a man’s life is flipped upside down and changed forever through a most outrageous reality show.

“Fame and Fools” was influenced by Ms. James’s work in reality television production. “I worked production side of reality TV for some time and was gobsmacked at the amount of manipulation that occurs between the producer and the contestants,” commented James about her experience that blossomed into the foundation of one of the two future films.

Ms. Mawbey added, “For me Get Appy was largely influenced by my perspective observing current political, social and technological trends and how they are affecting people and relationships in general. And more specifically from my position as a foreigner being exposed to LA culture.”

While already developing three major feature films, distinguished 30-year industry veteran and award-winning filmmaker Mr. Rollins could not pass up the opportunity to work with Ms. James and Ms. Mawbey. “Both projects bring intelligent original content to the storytelling. I’m excited to work with these two extraordinary talents. I love their energy, creativity, and people are going to love these two projects,” Rollins remarked, with obvious enthusiasm.

“Get Appy” is expected to begin production in December 2019 followed by “Fame and Fools” in early 2020.

Clearly, Ms. James and Ms. Mawbey have much more to come as well.
